Believed to have been created at New York City’s Manhattan Club, sometime around 1880, the Manhattan is a cocktail that is both timeless and tasty. Mixing American Rye Whiskey, Italian Sweet Vermouth and perked up with the inclusion of Angostura Bitters, it is the very definition of what a cocktail should be.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. 60ml Whiskey, Rye
  • 1 oz. 30ml Vermouth, Sweet
  • dash dash Angostura Bitters
Display: oz. ml.

Instructions

Add all the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice, and stir until well-chilled. Strain into a chilled glass.

Maraschino Cherry


More about this drink

Although it is traditional to make a Manhattan with Rye, other whiskies, like Canadian Whiskey, Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey are often used.
